Is it possible to re-size a tension set ring?
Before I make the investment I want to learn more about some potential obstacles such as resizing in the future and how easily (if at all) the diamond can fall out.
I've heard mixed feedback about how it is and isn't possible... are there any jewelers out there that have re-sized a ring that was tension set or replaced the diamond? Has anyone had problems with this style? Has anyone had any success?

I've never owned a tension ring, but I used to work at a jewelry store, and was always told by our jeweler that tension rings couldn't simply be re-sized, without completely re-designing the ring; cutting off some of the band on either side where the stone is (sizing down), or adding on more to the band after stretching the band out (sizing up). Your average jeweler wouldn't do this, since it's not just considered "repair"; it's actually re-designing the ring because you have to "re-set" the stone, etc. ... it would be a lot more complicated than a regular re-sizing. You would have to get someone that actually makes/designs jewelry.
